25 Years Later, Today the World is Born

Hayom Harat Olam. Today the world is born.
Today the world is new. For us all.

It also marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, a threshold event that changed the course of history. And in just a few weeks, we will celebrate Pearlstone’s 25th Anniversary- it opened just a few days after 9/11. It’s hard to imagine two anniversaries occurring so close together, carrying such different feelings. One about violence, pain, and loss. The other about community and belonging. In many ways, our movement is working toward a bold visionary goal: What would it mean to change the course of history and bend that arc towards joy, love, and hope instead?

So as we enter the new year in just a few hours, may we feel:

Gratitude
For our amazing staff team
Our wonderful lay leaders
All our supporters, funders, partners, allies, and friends

Love
For the little ones, the kiddos, the youth who like to play outside.
For the teens, college students, and young adults who come our way and then find theirs.
For the young families, adults, and elders who hold it all down.
For communities- building, working, surviving, thriving together through tumultuous times.
For our ancestors
And descendants

Prayer
May you be inscribed in the book of life
And may we all-
friends and family
communities and nations-
Know peace
In ourselves
and between people
and planet
