This tour offers an immersive introduction to Israel’s social, political, religious, and geostrategic complexities, with a focused exploration of its environmental challenges and innovative solutions. Participants will engage with leading Israeli and Palestinian scientists, activists, entrepreneurs, and policymakers in the climate and sustainability fields, providing a comprehensive understanding of Israel’s approach to these critical issues.
The tour highlights three key areas:
- Climate and Sustainability Movement: Learn about Israel’s environmental efforts and build relationships with Israeli-based climate and environmental professionals to foster collaboration and shared learning.
- Climate Innovation and Technology: Gain insights into Israel’s thriving climate tech sector and its cutting-edge advancements.
- Environmental Peacebuilding: Explore initiatives promoting shared society and cooperation through environmental projects.
Target Audience
NY-based Jewish environmentalists and professionals working in climate and sustainability across sectors—including nonprofits, business, government, higher education, Jewish education, and more. If you’re unsure whether you fit the criteria, please reach out!
This tour will deepen participants’ understanding of Israel’s internal and external socio-political dynamics, its pioneering environmental strategies, and the potential lessons applicable to New York as it navigates rapid development, population growth, and the challenges of climate mitigation and adaptation.

Itinerary and Points of Interest
While the full itinerary is still being finalized, the program promises a fast-paced, enriching week packed with visits, meetings, and meaningful experiences. The group will explore major strategic, holy, natural, and cultural sites, including West and East Jerusalem, the Jordan Rift Valley and Dead Sea region, Arad, North and West Negev Desert (featuring a visit to a sustainable Bedouin community), Jaffa, and Tel Aviv.
We will also visit the Nova Festival site and key locations related to the October 7th massacre.
Shabbat will be spent in Tel Aviv.

Application Process
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, and spots are expected to fill quickly. Be prepared to include a short bio (up to 250 words) and headshot, no later than January 25th. Acceptance letters will be sent by Feb 1st.

Fees, Commitment, and Expectations
The tour in Israel is free and fully funded by Adamah NY thanks to the generous support of UJA Federation of NY and private donations. It will be covering travel within Israel, kosher meals, site visits, double-occupancy accommodations, and medical insurance.
- Participants are responsible for booking and covering their flights to/from Israel and travel insurance.
- Single-room lodging is available for an additional cost. Applicants from the nonprofit sector may be eligible to apply for modest flight subsidies based on financial need.
- To secure your spot, a $750 refundable registration fee is required upon acceptance. This fee will be refunded upon completion of the tour and a post-trip survey.
- Participants are expected to participate in a pre-departure meeting on April 20th, 5:30-8 p.m., in Manhattan (location TBD) as well as a post-tour dinner in June (time and location TBA).
