Sabbath at the Swamp with GIPL

Okefenokee Swamp
Join at the edge of the Okefenokee Swamp for a special interfaith Swamp Shabbat/Sabbath gathering.
with Georgians for the Okefenokee, Georgia Interfaith Power and Light and Adamah ATL as we build relationships across geography and faith communities, while deepening knowledge of and connection to Georgia’s first and only UNESCO World Heritage site.
Event Details
First, we’ll share in a multifaith prayer service, rooting ourselves in connection with one another, gratitude for the natural world, and shared responsibility to protect our Common Home. Then, after a catered lunch, enjoy a guided boat tour through the Okefenokee, experiencing firsthand the beauty and ecological richness of this extraordinary and globally rare place.
Tickets are $30 per person. Children ages 3 and under may attend for free.
Schedule of Events
10 a.m. — 11:30 a.m.: Multi-faith service at the swamp’s edge led by Rabbi Fred Scherlinder Dobb and Reverend Antwon Nixon
12:00 p.m. — 1:30 p.m.: Lunch and advocacy discussion
1:30 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.: Motorized boat tour of swamp, where you can expect to see numerous alligators, birds, turtles and more
