A Retreat for Jewish Communal Professionals

Forge meaningful relationships with colleagues in your region while engaging with powerful religious and spiritual practice and Jewish learning.

Step into a palace in time with other Jewish communal professionals from your region. Celebrate a spiritual, meaningful, relaxing experience full of creativity rest, and movement and singing in an idyllic setting.

Participants will emerge with a broader network of friends and allies in the field, new Jewish wisdom sources for inspiration, and renewed motivation, passion, and commitment to their work. We will talk, sing, pray, move our bodies indoors and outside, eat delicious food, rest, laugh, and reflect.

This retreat experience is fully funded for eligible participants! A $180 fully refundable deposit is required to demonstrate your commitment. Travel expenses to/from the retreat are not covered.

Eligibility for these retreats require participants to have been working full time in Jewish communal service for 2+ years, and in their current role for 6+ months.

Rabbi Adina Allen is a spiritual leader, writer, and visionary educator pioneering a contemporary Jewish path grounded in the transformative power of creativity. As Founding Rabbi and President of Jewish Studio Project (JSP), she is shaping a movement that places creativity at the heart of Jewish life. Integrating insights from the field of art therapy with Jewish text study and spiritual practice, Adina developed the Jewish Studio Process—a groundbreaking methodology that activates creativity as a force for healing, connection, and social transformation. Adina has worked with thousands of educators, clergy, artists, and community leaders across hundreds of organizations, helping individuals and institutions alike cultivate creativity as an essential capacity for vibrant Jewish life and collective renewal. Adina is the author of The Place of All Possibility: Cultivating Creativity Through Ancient Jewish Wisdom (Ayin, 2024). She is a recipient of the Covenant Foundation’s 2018 Pomegranate Prize, was named one of Moment Magazine’s “50 Jewish Innovators of the Past 50 Years”. Ordained through Hebrew College’s pluralistic rabbinic program, Adina lives in Berkeley, California with her spouse, musician and JSP founding CEO Jeff Kasowitz, and their two children.

Yael Shy is the Founder and CEO of Sefira Wellness, where she supports individuals and collectives through well-being practices that uncover their inherent worth and capacity for deep joy. Current and former clients include New York University, Columbia School of Law, Procter and Gamble, UJA Federation, Hillel International, Etsy, and many more. She is the author of the award-winning book, What Now? Meditation for Your Twenties and Beyond (Parallax, 2017), and the founder of Mindful NYU, the largest campus-based mindfulness initiative in the country. Yael is faculty at the Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Shoshana Bittker is the Campus Midwest Coordinator for Adamah. Shoshana holds a BA from The George Washington University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. She works on both the Detroit hub team, as well as the National Programs team. Shoshana is a Michigander, outdoor adventurer, and camp counselor at heart. She is passionate and dedicated to fostering meaningful connections between people and the natural world and is looking forward to this beautiful retreat together.

 

Samm Kaiser headshotSamantha (Samm) Kaiser has been on Adamah staff for three years, where she’s worked at every level within our teen program, the Adamah Youth Movement (formerly the Jewish Youth Climate Movement). As a facilitator, she uses personal storytelling to help people uncover their stake in the climate movement, inspiring them to take joyfully rooted action. Though she lives in Brooklyn now, she is most at home in midwestern forests, where you can often find her looking for bugs.
