Long before we were ever called the People of the Book, we were a people of hands, ink, and parchment. Writing Hebrew was an ancestral craft, rooted in the living world, shaped by feather quills, oak galls, and patient attention.
Join us for a six-part Sofrut, ‘Hebrew Calligraphy’ series, exploring these ancient skills. Together, we will learn how to make oak gall ink from the land, cut our own feather quills, and practice the sacred art of forming Hebrew letters by hand. This is a slow, embodied invitation into relationship with Hebrew as a living language and a sacred form.
This series is perfect for those seeking to deepen their connection to Hebrew and Jewish tradition, as well as for those encountering the Aleph Bet for the very first time. No prior experience is necessary, only curiosity, care, and a willingness to learn with your hands.
