Prayers for Rain: Sukkot, lulav, and Af-Bri – the angel of rain

As Sukkot comes to a close, Jewish prayer makes a seasonal turn toward rain. On Shemini Atzeret, we begin adding Mashiv HaRuach U’Morid HaGeshem “Who causes the wind to blow and the rain to fall”. 

In preparation for Revayah, the Bay’s embodied Hoshana Rabbah rain dance gathering, we’ll follow this transition into some of the strange, beautiful, and deeply ecological ways Jewish tradition understands water.
