Lag B’Omer: A Day of Light and Reflection

Dear Friends,

Lag B’Omer is a day layered with meaning. It marks the passing of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, traditionally associated with the Zohar and the teachings of Judaism. It also marks the moment when the plague among Rabbi Akiva’s students came to an end. Falling on the 33rd day of the Omer, between Passover and Shavuot, it has come to be a day that honors the wisdom of Kabbalah.

These teachings invite us to see what isn’t obvious on the surface, to recognize the deeper interconnectedness of life. For example, every cell in your body contains the full DNA code for your entire being. The cells in your thumbnail carry the same blueprint as those that form your lungs or your spleen.

What if we are like that, too?

Each of us is distinct, with our own form and purpose. And yet, we carry within us something whole, something that connects us to one another and to all of creation.

This Lag B’Omer, take a moment to turn inward and outward at once, to sense the deeper threads that link you to others, to community, and to the greater whole.

At Adamah, we create spaces to experience that connection in real, grounded ways. This summer, slow down and deepen in spirituality at our free retreats for employees of Jewish non-profits, our Jewish holiday retreats, family camp, camp for senior adults…and so many more.

Count the Omer with Adamah’s Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition

During the Omer – the period of 49 days between Passover and Shavuot – we are recounting stories of the Jewish climate movement and deepening our care for the earth. Adamah’s Counting the Omer campaign is celebrating climate action success stories from members of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition, including the installation of solar power, heat pumps, LED lights, supporting regenerative agriculture, composting, and more!
