I was studying Environmental Economics & Policy at UC Berkeley on October 7th, 2023. I was also co-president of Bears for Israel, and the day before had just hosted my first event for my club focused on sustainable food technologies, Plant Futures.
Since that day, I’ve realized I often don’t fit the mold of many of my peers who hold similar progressive values and want to make a meaningful impact on climate change—simply because of my Judaism and connection to Israel. It’s an unfortunate reality of today, but I’ve been able to surround myself with others who share both my values and my pride, which has been incredibly motivating.
With Adamah, I’ve found a community of other Jews working to make the world a better place.
I’m grateful that Adamah creates opportunities for students to explore Judaism alongside their care for the environment. I want to support students by giving them tools to create their own luck in building a values-aligned career, by sharing my experiences and perspective.
