Adamah Farm Fellowship

New York, NY

I came to Adamah because I wanted to learn how to live more sustainably and in connection with the earth. I have a dream to be living in community with loved ones, surrounded by nature, growing food, and living life in a healthy relationship with the ‘more than human’ world. Adamah gave me the chance to practice living in that kind of intentional community and to gain firsthand experience farming. I was drawn to Adamah in particular because the Jewish spiritual and ethical lens of the program makes these practices more meaningful for me.

Through my experience in the Adamah Farm Fellowship, I discovered the holiness of the soil out of which we all grow.

I discovered that I can get my hands dirty, and that feels empowering. I discovered an incredible network and community of Jewish people who are farming and connecting with the land. I discovered the ways in which living in intentional community lightens the load and makes the business of life easier — and more meaningful, too. And I discovered many questions and possibilities within myself, as I explore the ways that I want to live my life.

Adamah has made me feel that the way I dream of living my life is possible. It gave me the chance to learn and practice valuable skills and introduced me to inspiring people who value this way of life. I’m now working as an educator at an organic farm where I am trying to pass along some of what Adamah taught me to children who participate in our programs.”
