We love the outdoors and have been concerned about climate change for a long time. Our first contact with Adamah was when Robert reached out offering to sponsor and organize a Jewish environmental bike ride in Irvine, California, during the pandemic. Over 200 participants and volunteers raised $20,000 at the Adamah/Hazon OC Ride in March 2022. In spring 2023, we created Adamah’s Orange County Climate Action Fund through the Jewish Community Foundation Orange County to incentivize other Jewish nonprofits to take climate action and to inspire other communities to launch regional grant funds and community impact hubs.
We’re proud the Orange County Climate Action Fund has made eight grants to date.
We’re grateful Adamah gave our synagogue a grant, loan, and technical support to install a solar carport. Many congregants donated to the project and celebrated at our solar ribbon-cutting ceremony. After learning about the benefits of solar, a sizable number went on to install residential solar.
We’re honored to help Adamah grow its impact. It is deeply meaningful to be part of recruiting and nurturing members of the Jewish Climate Leadership Coalition and to collaborate with the dedicated and talented team of Adamah staff and lay leaders. We hope many more Jewish organizations will join the Coalition and take climate action.
