I first found Adamah through an amazing Shabbaton at Pearlstone in my senior year of high school. Before, I had never heard of a Jewish environmental movement — let alone one that encourages young people to be a part of it all.
Everything I learned and heard that weekend spoke to me, and I really resonated with how interconnected I felt to both my Judaism and the earth. I had never felt so seen in my Judaism before, and immediately wanted to get involved. Adamah brings together so many things that I care deeply about in such a beautiful way that enriches my identity.
Right now, I am experiencing gratitude and community.
Being connected to peers like myself, who feel very similarly about the earth and Judaism, makes me feel very connected and grateful. Getting the opportunity to share and get to know others across the U.S. and within my community is so special, especially through Adamah.
I hope that my experience will inspire others to get involved and connect with their Judaism in new ways. I hope it makes them realize that it isn’t too hard — it’s actually feasible to bring new things to your community even when you aren’t quite sure how it will all work. I hope it encourages others to keep doing the work and that it continues into the future. I hope that I continue to connect with my Judaism in new ways and am able to share my experiences with others, with my love for the earth at the center.
