SAR Academy’s fifth graders enjoyed an unforgettable two-day adventure at Teva, located at the Isabella Freedman Jewish Retreat Center. From hiking scenic trails and investigating stream ecology to farming, caring for goats and participating in exciting team-building challenges, students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, curiosity and incredible ruach.
Upon arrival, the adventure began right away. Students spent time exploring the outdoors, working on the farm, and connecting with nature, and one another, under beautiful sunny skies. The fun continued with a delicious farm-to-table dinner, Mincha, engaging nature electives and a magical campfire featuring a lively kumzitz and, of course, plenty of s’mores.
The next day began with davening and breakfast before students headed out for more hiking, exploration and hands-on learning. Throughout the trip, SAR Academy’s fifth graders fully immersed themselves in Teva’s unique blend of outdoor education, environmental stewardship and Jewish values.
It was inspiring to watch students challenge themselves, strengthen friendships and grow as a community. The Teva trip provided a meaningful and memorable opportunity to celebrate the culmination of their lower school years and created memories that will last for years to come.
