Westchester Torah Academy (WTA), located in New Rochelle, New York, has always balanced two ambitious goals: providing academic excellence and remaining financially accessible to families. Since its founding, WTA has been committed to offering a high-quality Jewish and general education while carefully managing costs so tuition remains affordable. That commitment has driven the school to think creatively—not only in the classroom, but also in how it operates as an institution.
One area where WTA has consistently looked for innovation is cost efficiency. Like many schools, energy expenses represent a significant portion of its operating budget. Several years ago, school leadership began exploring ways to reduce long-term costs while aligning with deeply held Jewish values of responsibility, stewardship, and care for the world. Renewable energy, and solar power in particular, quickly emerged as a promising solution.
