The 6th annual Food Conference begins this Thursday in sunny Davis, California. We wanted to take a moment to pull together all the wonderful things going on in the world in preparation.

  • Daniel Infeld notes the momentum around the food movement and highlights Hazon’s Food Values taken into consideration when planning an event, program, or meeting on The Jew and the Carrot. Nadia Schreiber highlights how trendy DIY shechting has become and where it’s happening. Can the Food Conference take credit for starting this one?
  • Pursue, a project of American Jewish World Service and AVODAH, is sending a robust cohort of change agents to the conference. They bring with them a “wealth of invaluable food justice know-how and experience” and will be on the “front lines of Pursue’s food justice work in the coming year.” Mazal Tov! We know you’ll do great work.
  • The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism commented on how Jews eating well may not be something to take for granted. They speak about hands-on initiatives and projects and how they affect the Reform world.
  • JWeekly.com gives another overview of the conference, mentioning featured presenters and all of the amenities of UC Davis that are available to participants.

Registration will be open through August 19th, 3PM EST if you’d still like to attend!
