Key Responsibilities
The Director of Parent Engagement & Health Center Coordinator is focused on building strong relationships with camp families and supporting the mental, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual health of our campers and staff. This person will supervise our summer Health Center team and liaise with the camper care and office teams. This position reports to the Camp Director, works closely with all members of the full-time team during the year, and is a member of camp’s summer leadership team.
This position requires an RN (or higher) license in or transferable to the State of New York.
Year-Round (Remote or at our Philadelphia or Putnam Valley offices)
Cultivate and maintain relationships with camp families that are rooted in excellent communication, trust, and partnership
Manage camper intake, reviewing registration forms and building relationships within the Eden Village community, including recruitment for and supervision of the Kruvim Inclusion program
In collaboration with camp staff, families, and other necessary parties, work before summer to create plans to support individual camper needs during the camp season
Recruit, train and supervise the summer Health Center team
Lead the visioning and design process for the Camper Care and Wellness track of our pre-camp staff orientation and facilitate key training sessions for staff
Manage the camper form process, including reviewing camper and staff medical forms
With the camp Medical Director (MD) and our summer lead clinical nurse, annually review health center procedures and best practices
Summer (In residence at Eden Village Camp June to August)
Supervise and support our team of nurses and health center staff to ensure that best practices and policies are being followed and that excellent care is being provided in the health center
Serve in residence as one of the nurses for 8 weeks of summer camp
Coordinate Health Center responsibilities on Opening Day, including checking in medications, answering parent questions, and managing organization of medication and camper MARs
Manage nurse and Health Center assistant schedules
Communicate and partner regularly with parents to share camp updates and seek advice and perspective that will help our staff best support the physical, mental, social, and emotional health of our campers

Maintain active and warm correspondence with parents and camper families during the summer and throughout the year
Exude the warmth of Eden Village Camp to campers, parents, and staff alike at all times

Eden Village Camp has a dynamic year-round staff that supports each other to collectively prepare for and run camp each summer. This position requires flexibility, a willingness to learn new skills and take on responsibilities outside the immediate job description when needed.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate most of the following:

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort in communicating with children, young adults and parents
Experience with children, teenagers, and adult mental, social, and emotional health
Attention to detail in documentation and maintaining records
A track record of sound judgment and effective problem solving in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to take on additional roles and responsibilities to accomplish a goal
Desire and capacity to cultivate a pluralistic, inclusive and kind Jewish community
Desire to grow together with the organization over time
Kind, enthusiastic, excited to try new things, generous, willing to be silly, flexible, creative, caring, and able to maintain a positive team attitude throughout a full work day
Requirements
RN (or higher) license in or transferable to the State of New York
5+ years of professional experience (Eden Village is committed to valuing and supporting all types of labor. Applicants who have spent time outside of the professional workforce as full-time caregivers are encouraged to apply even if they don’t meet this requirement.)
Previous experience supervising staff is preferred
Previous experiences in a camp, school or similar environment is preferred
Position is remote during the non-summer season, or at one of our year-round offices in Philadelphia or Putnam Valley, NY
This position must be in residence at Camp in Putnam Valley, NY throughout our summer season (early June – late August)
Year-Round Flexibility
This position does not require full-time availability in the non-summer months. Applicants interested in part-time year-round work (and full-time during the summer season) are encouraged to apply and note their preference in their application.
Compensation & Benefits
Annual salary range of $80,000-90,000, depending on experience
Salary will be adjusted according to our professional staff salary scale for those whose professional experience greatly exceeds the posted requirements. If you meet some of the requirements, but not all, we encourage you to apply. The salary offered will be commensurate with our professional staff salary scale, which may be less than the posted salary
Benefits package including generous paid time off, federal and Jewish holidays, health benefits bonus and health spending account, parental leave, yearly professional development funds, flexible schedule, and work-from-home option
During the summer season, staff work 6 days per week. 4 day and 4.5 day workweeks from September to April. Daily work hours expectations scale up and down with the season.
Complimentary child care included during summer residence period. (Camp Tuition for all sessions for eligible children. Child care at camp for younger children.)
Hiring Process & Timeline
We will review applications on a rolling basis.
If possible, candidates may be invited to visit camp during the current summer and/or work in the Health Center as a per diem RN for a day or two.
We hope to have the selected candidate begin anytime this fall and by December 1st, 2023 at the latest.
