Shalom Institute seeks an Associate Director of Sales & Marketing/Programming to
grow, develop, and lead Shemesh Farms sales and fundraising efforts, in
collaboration with Shemesh Farms Director, Shalom Institute’s Marketing Director,
and Chief Development Officer and Development Manager; will also participate as a
team member of Shalom Institute Development Team and year-round staff team.
The position includes supporting the Shemesh Farms enterprise and employment
initiative by working in collaboration with the Shemesh Farms Director and Farm
Manager on the operation and implementation of the Shemesh Farms program
during program hours and events, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at
Shemesh Farms site (and special event days at Shemesh Farms, Shalom Institute
and other venues).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF SALES AND
DEVELOPMENT/PROGRAM ASSOCIATE:
Description: This is a full-time exempt position, on-site during Shemesh
programming days and hours. Additionally, work may be done from home, Shalom
Institute’s Alan D. Leve campus, and/or in the field for Shalom Institute staff meetings,
special events, and sales calls. Weeknights and weekends for special projects and
events may be required.

Responsibilities:
Sales and Development:
The ultimate goal of this position is to ensure the financial sustainability of Shemesh Farms by
● Collaborating with the Director of Shemesh Farms and Shalom Institute Marketing Director to create and implement plans/schedules for sales, marketing, new products, and events.
● Assessing current supply chain challenges, product sales and marketing and creating and implementing strategic plans to increase online, event and vendor sales.
● Meeting monetary sales goal “deadlines”.
● Researching and creating relationships with vendors and organizations to
increase sales (including holiday gifts for corporate, synagogue and non-profit groups).
● Utilizing and maintaining Shemesh’s online shop, social media platforms to
boost sales and marketing (including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube).
● Collaborating with the Director of Shemesh Farms and Shalom Institute
Development Team to assess and maintain current grants and research and
write new ones; maintain and cultivate existing donor relationships.
● Seeking out and cultivating new donors, asks, and solicitations
● Meeting donation goal deadlines
Program:
● Work in collaboration with the Director of Shemesh Farms and the Shemesh
Farm Manager on the implementation of the Shemesh Farms program.
● Work hands-on in all areas of Shemesh Farms program spaces (inside and
outside) and in all aspects of the enterprise: gardening, composting, sorting,
drying, curation, bottling, labeling, etc.
● Develop relationships with farm fellows, volunteers, coaches and staff.
● Participate in (and sometimes lead) opening and closing daily meetings.
● Attend Shemesh Farms staff meetings.
● Participate in and (sometimes) run farm stands at events on/off campus.
● Covering the Director and Farm Manager positions when they are absent on
program days.
